The short version
The SimpliFlight iOS app works offline. Your flights, aircraft, maintenance records, costs, credentials, and reports are stored on your device. We collect nothing unless you choose to create an account and enable cloud sync — and even then, Hobbs photos, receipt images, credential scans, GPS flight tracks, and report PDFs never leave your phone. SimpliFlight Fleet, the web management platform, stores the operational records an organization needs to run — fleet, schedules, maintenance, and invoices — scoped privately to that organization.
What we collect and where it lives
- SimpliFlight app without an account (default): nothing. All data stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
- SimpliFlight app with an account (optional, Pro): your email address and structured records — dates, airport identifiers, Hobbs readings (numbers), flight hours, classifications, amounts, and report totals — sync to our secure backend (Supabase, hosted in the United States) so you can back up and restore across devices. Access is restricted to your account.
- SimpliFlight Fleet: the same secure backend stores the records your organization creates — aircraft, schedules, maintenance and AD compliance, dispatch and Hobbs-based invoices, and member roles. This data is scoped to your organization and visible only to its authorized members.
Sharing between the two products
SimpliFlight and SimpliFlight Fleet share one account. When you belong to an organization, its aircraft and your bookings, schedule, and invoices appear in your app, and you can import a completed flight into your personal logbook in one tap. We never expose your personal logbook, costs, or other organizations' data to a Fleet operator — the handoff moves only the flight you choose to import.
Camera, photos, and the Hobbs meter
When you photograph the Hobbs meter, the reading is recognized with on-device text recognition and the photo is immediately discarded — it is never stored, let alone uploaded. Only the numeric reading you confirm is saved. Receipts and credential scans are stored locally and never uploaded; synced records carry only a yes/no flag that an image exists.
Microphone and speech
Spoken Hobbs entry processes audio live on your device to recognize the number; audio is never recorded or stored.
Location
SimpliFlight uses a one-shot, When-In-Use location fix to suggest the nearest airport when you capture a Hobbs reading, and (optionally) to record a flight track. There is no background or continuous tracking. Coordinates and flight tracks stay on your device — synced flights carry only airport identifiers and a yes/no flag that a local track exists. The live fleet map in SimpliFlight Fleet uses publicly broadcast ADS-B position data, not data from your phone.
Purchases
SimpliFlight Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. SimpliFlight Fleet subscriptions are billed by Iron Foundry LLC through our payment processor; we store only what's needed to manage your subscription, never full card numbers.
No tracking, no ads, no data sales
We do not track you across apps or websites, show no ads, use no third-party advertising analytics, and never sell data.
Data retention and deletion
- On-device data is deleted when you delete the app.
- Account and synced data can be permanently deleted in the app: Settings → Delete account. This removes your sign-in and everything synced to the cloud immediately.
- SimpliFlight Fleet organization data can be deleted by the organization's owner from Fleet settings, or by emailing us.
Children
SimpliFlight is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date.
